Kamairicha (釜炒り茶) is a Japanese green tea with unique attributes.
Although this type of tea originated from China, it is a specialty of Kyushu, Japan.
One of the key differentials of Kamairicha when compared to most other Japanese green teas is that it is roasted in iron pots, rather than steamed, which is how most Japanese green teas are processed. Pan roasting is much more common in China than Japan.
This is a somewhat rare tea, representing approximately 2% of Japan’s tea production.
