The Royal Family’s Favorite Teas Revealed by Former Butler

Despite tea being of Chinese origin, tea holds a special place in English history.

By their standards, it’s hard to imagine anything more English then a good cup of tea.

Even the Royal Family is known to enjoy a good cuppa.

Although they are often a bit secretive about their preferences, Grant Harrold, a prior Royal Family butler for Prince Charles between the years of 2004 and 2011 has recently revealed to the public how the Royal Family enjoys their tea.

Queen of England

“Assam and Earl Grey are her favorites” – Grant Harrold.

Although, he goes on to mention that she never adds milk first.

Prince Charles

Grant said that Prince Charles has a very strict set of rules regarding his tea.

“Water must always be heated to 70C for green tea, and 100C for English Breakfast.” – Grant Harrold

“He and Camilla must be big fans as they served afternoon tea at their wedding. – Grant Harrold

Kate Middleton

“Kate Middleton likes to go traditional with ‘builder’s tea,’ so just a dash of milk.” – Grant Harrold

Meghan Markle

“Meanwhile, Meghan Markle prefers herbal infusions over English breakfast while Prince Harry reportedly no longer drinks tea as he tries to cut out caffeine from his diet.” – Grant Harrold
