White tea is a type of tea that is minimally processed. It is made from the young leaves and buds of the tea plant, Camellia sinensis. The name “white tea” comes from the fine silvery-white hairs on the unopened buds of the tea plant, which give the plant a whitish appearance.

It has a subtle, delicate flavor that is often described as fresh, floral, and slightly sweet.

Although it lacks the strong grassy or astringent notes found in green teas and doesn’t have the robustness of black tea, its gentle flavor is often appreciated by those who prefer a milder tea.

Taking that into account, let’s take a look at some of the best white tea brands of the year.

    Table of Contents

    • Yunnan Sourcing, Imperial Grade Silver Needle White Tea of Jinggu
    • Verdant Tea, Wild Bai Mu Dan
    • The Republic Of Tea, Silver Rain Full-Leaf White Tea
    • Teamonk, Kimaya Darjeeling White Tea
    • Maya Tea, Sweet Peach White Tea

Yunnan Sourcing, Imperial Grade Silver Needle White Tea of Jinggu

This Imperial Grade Silver Needle White Tea of Jinggu from Yunnan Sourcing is usually of very good quality and the tea typically arrives intact, with a minimal amount of broken pieces.

This tea is made from the “Da Bai Hao” varietal, a natural hybrid of Assamica which is distinctively found in the Jinggu area of Simao, located in Yunnan Province, China.

In regards to flavor, this tea is light, fruity, and has a full texture.

Verdant Tea, Wild Bai Mu Dan

The Wild Bai Mu Dan from Verdant Tea is, in my opinion, somewhat unique.

In regards to flavor, this tea is lively, fresh, and a bit grassier than many other Bai Mu Dan teas.

That being said, we enjoyed drinking this tea enough to include it on this list.

The Republic Of Tea, Silver Rain Full-Leaf White Tea

Silver Rain is a top-shelf Silver Needle White Tea from The Republic of Tea, a relatively well-known tea company who is based in the USA.

In regards to flavor, it’s floral, fruity, and full-bodied.

    Teamonk, Kimaya Darjeeling White Tea

This Kimaya Darjeeling White Tea from Teamonk is different from other teas on this list because it is manufactured from Darjeeling tea, which is grown in India, rather than China.

In regards to flavor, this tea has the typical floral, fruity, and muscatel-like notes of Darjeeling tea, but because it is processed into a white tea, it’s gentler, earthier and more floral than its black tea counterparts.

Maya Tea, Sweet Peach White Tea

This Sweet Peach White Tea from Maya Tea is fruity, refreshing, and fun.

In regards to flavor, the natural earthiness of white tea pairs well with the sweet and tangy flavors of peach.
