He was born in Yang Mei village of Feng Huang in 1946.
He is quoted as saying that ‘one love is enough in life, and his is tea.
His tea won an award for ‘top tea in the country’ in 1982 at the Hunan Changsha Conference and Competition.
In 2012, he was recognized as a cultural treasure and heir to the craft of Dancong tea production by the city government of Chaozhou.
