    Translation

Cha hai translates to “tea sea” in English and is a term of Chinese origin.

    Definition

Cha Hai – (茶海, Chinese) (chá hǎi) (Noun):

    1. A traditional Chinese tea-ware vessel, also known as a “fairness cup“, is often used in gongfu tea ceremonies. It functions to ensure that each participant receives tea of the same concentration and temperature.

    Example Sentences

    1. “We poured the oolong tea into the cha hai before serving it to the guests.”

    Notes

    • The cha hai is typically made of porcelain, glass, or Yixing clay and is used to hold and pour tea after it has been steeped in a teapot. This is to prevent over-steeping of the leaves in the teapot, and to make certain that each cup poured has an even flavor.
