Silver Needle White Puerh Tea Cake

In this post, I will review a Jinggu Sun-Dried Silver Needle White Pu’er Tea Cake from Yunnan Sourcing.

    Tea Specifications

    Brand: Yunnan Sourcing
Tea: Silver Needle White Pu’er Tea Cake
    Tea Varietal: Camellia Taliensis
    Vintage: Spring, 2020
Origin: Yang Ta Village, Jinggu, China

The cake itself is beautiful and is comprised of large, loosely compressed tea buds.

This tea supposedly has minimal processing, using simple sun-drying methods.

I broke the tea cake apart with a pu’er pick, but you could definitely break this tea cake apart by hand if necessary as it has a rather loose compression.

    Review

    Amount of Tea: 5 Grams
    Brewing Vessel: Small Glass Pitcher
    Type of Water: Spring Water
    Rinse Time: 10 Seconds
    Steep Time: 30 Seconds – 40 Seconds – 50 Seconds

It’s a somewhat mild silver needle white tea.

There are notes of jasmine, vanilla, honey, hay, and citrus peel.

Notes of something like pumpkin and black pepper developing later on.

Flavor notes: Dry hay, jasmine, vanilla, honey, citrus peel, pumpkin, and black pepper.

You can watch Stephen Colbert drink the 2017 version of this in the video below:
