Wu Liang Mountain Wild Arbor Raw Pu-erh Tea

Today I am reviewing a Wu Liang Mountain Wild Arbor Raw Pu’er Tea Cake from Yunnan Sourcing.

    Tea Specifications

    Brand: Yunnan Sourcing
Tea: Wu Liang Mountain Wild Arbor Pu’er
    Vintage: April, 2020
    Altitude: 2300 Meters
Origin: Zhong Cang village of Wu Liang mountains, Jingdong county of Simao, China

Yunnan Sourcing states that this tea is from 200 year old tea trees growing naturally on steep hillsides and ridges. They also mention that it is some of the highest altitude pu’er tea in the world.

    Amount of Tea: 7 Grams
    Brewing Vessel: 120ml Clay Teapot
Type of Water: Bottled Water (Reverse Osmosis)
    Rinse Time: 10 Seconds
    Steep Time: 20 Seconds – 30 Seconds – 40 Seconds

Malty, yet sweet and sugary, with a bit of a fruity tang.

Beyond the malt and honey horizon are fresh fig, earthy forest flowers, lychee, molasses, dark spice, green moss, and wood notes.

A pleasant earthy bitterness clings to the palette, but it’s smoother than some other pu’er teas.

The tea broth has a reasonably thick texture and a relatively complex flavor.

Flavor notes: Malt, honey, fig, earthy forest flowers, lychee, molasses, dark spice, green moss, and tree trunk.
